Your Game Plan
“It may be hard for an egg to turn into a
bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining
an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being
just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad.”
C.S. Lewis

LEADERS are learners! And if you take up my challenge, you can become one of the top 20% of people in the world. Over the years I have intently watched people across many venues and situations. Vilfredo Pareto in 1906 observed that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the people. Pareto is right, and the 80/20 rule exits in all areas of our lives
Pareto observed that 80% of the peas he ate out of his garden came from 20% of the plants. Recently on an early morning flight I noticed that about 80 % of the people were sleeping and the other 20% of the people were using this time to get themselves or their work to the NEXT LEVEL… and that is YOU!
ThroughoutHUNGRY Fuelling your BEST GAME I want to coach your very best,
and now let’s go deeper. Within the text of HUNGRY we look at 9 fuel types that
energize us in the 3 important games that every one of us play… the INNER GAME,
the OUTER GAME and the TEAM GAME. Every successful person and team must win
three games, always in the same order: the Inner Game first, the Outer Game second,
and the Team Game third. We will follow the simple but powerful
structure of HUNGRY but will make your experience more personal and more
powerful… if you do ONE THING!
John Wooden,
the “winningest” coach in college basketball history, made a statement that has
profoundly impacted the course of my life: “Ì don’t worry too much about
winning or losing. I worry a lot about
practicing the details that give us the win.”
To have maximum impact we must practice, and to practice in this Hungry Handbook you must WRITE!
Other recent research conducted by the Dominican University of California showed that people who wrote down their goals, shared them with a friend, and then followed up with weekly updates were, on average, 33% more successful than those who didn’t write down their goals or share them with others.
